The black pad on the back is the micro-suction material we select and spec for every back plate, made of thousands of tiny crevices that grip with real strength and leave zero residue. It bonds only to smooth, flat, non-porous surfaces like glass, mirrors, and some tile.
Fun trick: press the pad firmly with your thumb and release to watch the tiny crevices that do all the work.
